Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Public railways company Adif is to cut 250 workplaces until 30 June 2014. This follows the agreement of a redundancy procedure (ERE) reached with unions 28 December.
According to the agreement, dismissed workers are to receive severance payments equal to 20 days per year worked up to a maximum of 12 months. This rate will be higher for workers aged 59 to 62 years.
Workers volunteering for the ERE have until 17 March to notify the management.
Adif is one of the two companies in which the government divided the Renfe Consortium after the liberalization of the railways sector in 2005. On 31 December 2013, Adif will furthermore be divided in two companies: Adif and Adif alta velocidad. Adif alta velocidad will start its activity with 236 employees coming from Adif.
