Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Hutchinson is to cut 90 jobs at its production site in Amilly. This is to affect production workers (57 job cuts), service personnel (28 jobs), and 5 employees working at the site but for factories located in Portugal and Poland.
The job cuts are to be implemented via voluntary departures from March until September 2014.
Reportedly, this measure is due to decreased demand in the sector. As a result, the management also started to implement a short time work scheme on 12 November (to last until May 2014).
In Amilly, the company builds air conditioner pipes and hydraulic power steering systems for the automotive industry. In 2009, Hutchinson announced 216 job cuts in Vierzon, Chateaudun and Liancourt.
