Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
EnerSys Bulgaria, subsidiary of the US-based global industrial batteries manufacturer EnerSys, is to cut up to 420 jobs at its facility in Targovishte.
As announced, the job reduction measure envisages 400-420 job cuts by the end of March 2014 and the use of a severance package. Only 120 employees will remain after the restructuring.
According to the sources, the social partners and the local authorities expressed concerns over the social consequences of the measure, since the Targovishte region suffers from high rates of unemployment.
As reported, the trade unions stress the need for a higher severance pay.
