Description
Metal casting company Global Castings is to offshore its entire production in Kristiansand, resulting in 154 job cuts by mid-2014. It is not known as yet which country the production will be offshored to.
Production will continue until the end of May 2014, but job reductions will start in January.
The measure is due to high costs in Norway and a lack of competitiveness. Unions have stated that workers were in shock over the loss of their livelihoods, but that they understand that little can be done given current economic situation.
