Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Semi-conductor manufacturer LFoundry is to reduce its staff in Rousset by 153, 80 of which had a fixed-term contract. This is to affect 80 workers in production, 36 technical and 37 managerial positions.
Management announced negotiations with unions to avoid direct dismissals and to set up a voluntary departure plan.
German LFoundry had bought the plant in 2010. The commercial court placed the company into receivership in July 2013.
UPDATED 19-12-2013:
The commercial court of Paris will decide on the liquidation of the company on the 26 December.
