European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Car manufacturing company Seat is planning to dismiss 393 employees in Martorell. Dismissals are to affect office workers and production supervisors exclusively.
The measure is induced by economic difficulties resulting in an intended cut of personnel costs by 5%. This plan also includes the reduction of internal promotions and paid vacancies.
The dismissals will be negotiated with the unions during the following month.
In 2011, Seat had announced the creation of 700 new jobs in Martorell.
Update 12/12/2014: Seat will finally dismiss 201 employees. The reduction follows the concentration of the dismissals on high ranked positions, cutting a larger amount of costs.
