Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Energy giant Carillion Energy has announced that it will cut up to 1,000 jobs.
This results of a slow market for the government’s flagship Green Deal programme. The company also blamed the anticipated delay in the Energy Companies Obligation (ECO), a governmental initiative supposed to target works in “fuel-poor” households.
Carillion group operates in the UK, Canada and the Middle East, employing about 40,000 staff globally. According to reports, Carillion Energy had cut 1,400 positions in the UK in 2012. The closure of its Hull Warmsure office resulted in the cut of 150 positions.
