Chemicals company Sasol Solvents is to cut 130 jobs in Germany by the second quarter of 2014.
This is due to the ceasing of isopropanol and ethanol production that has become less profitable with rising costs and increased market competition.
The company is based in South Africa. Currently, Sasol employs 148 employees in Herne, of which 18 jobs will remain. A restructuring initiative had been announced as of August 2013 after the company had found no buyer for the Herne site.
