Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Recycling company Papir Servis is closing down its site in Vevce, making all 172 workers redundant.
The closure follows the decision of a court, denying the company its environmental certification after the local population had complained about its operations in Vevce. Papir Servis had relocated a Lujubljana-based site to the town only recently.
Of the 172 working contracts, 58 are fixed-term and the remaining 114 are permanent (30 of which concern persons with disabilities with very low chances to find a new job).
