Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Dairy co-operative group FrieslandCampina is to cut 174 jobs in the next two years. As announced, by mid-2015 the company is to close its plant in Eindhoven (142 jobs) and transfer its activities to the Rotterdam and Maasdam sites. Additionally, the fresh dairy distribution activities will be transferred from Woerden (58 jobs) to Maasdam.
Moreover, the plan envisages 33 job cuts in Maasdam, 8 ones at Limmen and Drachten, and 5 ones in Rotterdam.
According to the sources, the group aims to increase its efficiency and cut costs.
The group announced its intention to help the employees affected, by providing support for finding a new job either inside or outside the group.
As reported, the company also plans to create 72 jobs at a newly established distribution facility in Maasdam.
Earlier restructuring measures took place in 2010.
FrieslandCampina is a merger between Campina and Friesland Foods.
