Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
French global power and engineering firm Alstom announced its intention to reduce its workforce by 1,300 staff mainly in Europe in an attempt to increase its competitiveness.
According to the sources, the job reduction plan will possibly affect IT jobs in France, as well as the company’s coal-fired boiler business in Germany.
As reported, the job cuts will affect around 1.4% of the company’s workforce. Alstom currently employs around 93,000 staff, of which 18,000 in France.
The timeline for the restructuring is not yet available.
