Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Savings-bank Sparkasse Hannover is to cut up to 240 jobs until the end of 2016. A spokesperson announced that this is a maximum figure including 40 part-time positions, and that probably less jobs will be cut.
The bank’s measure is part of a larger cost-saving program. A dismissal protection agreement has just expired, but a renewal is currently negotiated, so that forced redundancies are not to be expected.
Worker representatives asked to implement the job cuts through voluntary departures only.
In total, Sparkasse Hannover employs 2,350 people.
