Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
French subsidiary of global cable manufacturer Nexans Group is to cut 202 jobs in the frame of a European-wide restructuring plan.
As announced, the group will close its manufacturing site in Lyon (about 138 positions) and transfer its activities to two other sites in Mehun-sur-Yèvre (Cher) and Autun (Saône-et-Loire). Additionally, 12 jobs are to be lost in the R&D unit in Lyon. Other sites affected by the job reduction measures are: Autun, Bourg en Bresse, Fumay, La Verpilliere, Draveil, Lens and Clichy.
As part of the European restructuring, 87 jobs are to be redeployed to France and the group announced an additional creation of 39 jobs in its R&D unit in Lyon. In total, this amounts to a job creation of 126.
According to the sources, the planned restructuring measures follow adverse market conditions.
