On 10 October 2013, mining company Kinross announced its intention to cut 300 jobs as response to declining gold prices.
The job cuts will be affected across the company’s gold mining operations in Tasiast (Mauritania) as well as its administrative divisions in Nouakchott (Mauritania) and Las Palmas (Spain).
The Canadian company specialised in gold mining currently employs around 9,000 employees worldwide.
