Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
US automotive supplier Honeywell Turbo Technologies is seeking to reduce its workforce by 74, initially by offering voluntary redundancy, due to the obsolescence of a product line at its Waterford plant.
The company will also introduce short-time working for the remaining staff due to the reduced manpower demand.
Honeywell aims to maintain the employment levels at the plant at 300.
As announced the company has already established a replacement product line without giving futher information on its location.
