Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
German call-centre agency Walter Services is to cut more than 500 jobs in Germany. This is part of the company’s insolvency protection proceedings.
According to the sources, the restructuring plan envisages the closure of the sites in Lübeck (269 jobs) and Schutterwald (150 jobs) by the end of 2013 and also the reduction of the workforce at its headquarters in Ettlingen (approximately 90 job cuts). In total, the company employs 6,000 people in Germany.
Updated, 05-12-2013: As reported, the job reduction measures will continue and the total job cuts will be 1,000. The timeline and the locations affected are not still available.
