Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As announced on September 27, 2013, Pfleiderer, producer of wood-based materials, will cut 100 jobs in Germany. This is due to high volatility in demand.
Pfleiderer aims to flexibilize working time by the use of working time accounts and temporary workers. In total, the company employs 2,000 people. Most of the job cuts are to occur by natural fluctuation, but the company could not avoid 40 forced redundancies. Pfleiderer is in negotiation with worker representatives.
