Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Construction company Lemminkäinen has announced redundancies of up to 265 persons in Finland. The company has concluded mandatory negotiations with employee representatives on the cuts.
Lemminkäinen, engaged in both building and infrastructure construction, has approx. 4,800 employees in Finland. In August 2013 the company announced plans to save up to 30 million euros and cut 500 jobs worldwide. Part of the global restructuring plan is now implemented in Finland.
The company foresees dismissals, retirements, non renewal of fixed-term contacts as well as teporary lay-offs, as means to achieve the cuts by the end of April 2014.
For previous restructuring see Lemminkäinen- FI2012 and Lemminkäinen- FI2011.
