Description
Sandvik Mining and Construction has announced redundancies of 109 production personnel from its plant in Tampere. The company has concluded mandatory negotiations with employee representatives on these cuts, but negotiations continye concerning office personnel.
Sandvik, which has employed approx. 1,000 employees in Tampere, initiated negotiations in August on the basis reduced sales and poor outlook for its products. It is also planning temporary layoffs in Tampere, but it is not closing the factory for any period of time.
Production personnel of Sandvik's Tampere plant reacted to the announced layoffs with a two-day walk-out.
