Škoda Transportation, a traditional Czech transport engineering company, is to create 500 new jobs at its manufacturing site in Plzeň by the end of 2013. This is due to high customer order volume. From the first half of this year, the company supplies trains for Deutsche Bahn, trams for China and Turkey, trolleybuses for Riga in Latvia and Burgas in Bulgaria. The company's contracts have a total value of CZK 22 billions.
Škoda transportation currently employs 3,600 people at three sites in the Czech Republic (Plzeň, Otrava, Šumperk). Company's management also plans to extend work shifts and is currently searching for new production areas.
