Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The German car supplier Boysen has recently announced its intention to increase its workforce to 2,500 staff by 2014. The company, which currently employs around 1,980 people worldwide, will be hiring additional staff mainly for its new plants in Bremen (Germany), Tuscaloosa (US), East London (South Africa) and Langfang (China).
Since 2012, the company, which has its headquarters in Altensteig, Germany, has increased the number of production sites from 10 to 17 worldwide due to large-scale orders for its products.
