Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 2 September 2013, the Irish-based company PM Group announced its intention to create 250 jobs worldwide. Out of these, 100 positions are being created in Ireland, where the company currently employs over 1,000 staff. During recent months, 50 positions have already been filled in the company’s Dublin and Cork offices and the rest 50 ones are going to be filled by the end of 2013.
The remaining 150 positions will be created in the UK, Asia, Europe and the US. The engineering and project management firm plans to fill these posts partly by the end of 2013. Information on where the job expansion will take place exactly has yet to be published. According to media reports, the company is seeking to hire engineers, architects, project managers, construction managers and consultants as well as graduates.
