Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Expo, the company responsible for the organization and management of the Universal exposition EXPO Milano 2015, reached an agreement with the trade unions in order to create 640 new jobs by the 2015. In particular, the agreement envisages new procedures to hire 340 workers with apprenticeship contracts (with the definition of new apprentice jobs), 300 workers with fixed-term contracts (with some derogations to the habitual rules on temporary contracts).
Moreover, the agreement provides for the employment of 199 workers with internship contracts. The trade unions and national and local authorities pointed out the relevance of this agreement in order to deal with an important event like EXPO 2015.
