Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Dutch healthcare organisation De Opbouw announced on 16 July 2013 that 800 to 1,200 employees will lose their jobs in the coming three years. Practically the measure implies that 500-700 full-time jobs are to be lost.
As announced the restructuring is due to the govermental budget cuts affecting residential homes for elderly people with closure and the transfer of the responsibility of the youthcare organisations to the municipalities. During the first stage of the restructuring the measures will affect those employees with fixed term contracts and temporary staff.
