Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Alstom Wind, specialized in the production of wind power, is going to apply for a redundancy procedure affecting 290 employees in different locations in Spain. The measure refers to the closure of the plants located in Altamira (Zamora) and Somozas (Galicia). The redundancy procedure has been agreed with the unions. By means of the agreement, the unions have been able to reduce the initial number of dismissals by 22%. Dismissed workers will receive compensation by dismissal equal to 40 days per year worked up to a maximum of 12 months. Moreover, workers older than 56 years old will be eligible for early retirement.
