Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Terex Cranes Germany GmbH, a German producer of industrial mobile cranes, plans to cut 200 jobs by 2014. This is due to the continuing difficult economic situation. The industrial union "IG Metall" has the opinion that this measure is due to mismanagement. Furthermore the management wants to negotiate a new employment contract.
Terex Cranes Germany GmbH is a subsidiary of Terex and had in 2013 1850 employees.
Update, 13 November 2013: According to new sources, job cuts are to affect the Terex sites in Zweibrücken (Rhineland-Palatinate) and Blieskastel (Saarland). Furthermore, dismissals have been reduced from 200 to 120.
