Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Engineering firm ClydeUnion Pumps will cut 160 jobs from its plant in Glasgow. The announced redundancies are part of the restructuring following the acquisition of the company by the American group SPX in 2011. The aim of the restructuring is to identify synergies between the two companies and improve business efficiency.
The company has entered a consultation process with trade unions and employee representatives. Last year, 90 jobs were cut from the engineer firm as part of a restructuring measure.
