Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Merck Sharp and Dohme, leading company in pharmaceutical sector, is to close its plant in Pavia, with the loss of 270 jobs. The closure is expected to take place by the end of 2014.
The trade unions reacted to the company’s decision by organising protest actions. The Minister of Economic Development has called a meeting with the social partners at the end of June in order to discuss the industrial plan presented by the company.
