Tre Marie, a traditional manufacturer of bakery products, is to cut 120 jobs (out of 240) by moving the production of frozen croissants from the Milan plant to the one located in Verona. The remaining 120 employees will be re-employed in a newco for the production of seasonal bakery products, such as the Panettone, a typical Christmas Milanese cake.
At the beginning of June Sammontana, the largest Italian ice-cream manufacturer and owner of the Tre Marie brand, has announced a reorganisation plan for the Tre Marie plant located in Milan.
The trade unions have reacted to the company’s decision organising some protest actions and asking some meetings with the management of the company in order to have more details on the new business plan.
The time plan for the restructuring is not clear yet but, as announced, it should be completed by the end of 2013.
