Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
A rail freight carrier DB Schenker Rail Polska announced it plans to cut over 500 jobs in units in Warsaw and Upper Silesia. As of April 2013 there is no information on the timeline of the job cuts.
The dismissals are related to a worsening financial condition of the company (in January 2013 the company reduced the salaries by 22%). Moreover, recently the company did not win crucial siding management tenders. DB Schenker Rail negotiates with the local trade unions about the conditions of the restructuring programme.
DB Schenker Rail Polska is owned by Duetsche Bahn. The company employs 3,500 people across Poland.
