Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 3 January 2013, the management of Ricoh has announced its plans to cut 315 jobs in its plant of Wettolsheim (Haut-Rhin). In detail, the restructuring refers to the termination of 265 short-term and 50 temporary contracts. As announced the job cuts will be implemented gradually by March 2014 and the production of photocopiers will progressively move to Asia.
