Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 17 May 2013, the Commercial court of Montpellier (Hérault) has decided the liquidation of the electrical installer Multitec and 116 dismissals. The company was placed in receivership in March 2013. The court decides to maintain its activities on the site of Pérols (Hérault) until the 17 of July, to facilitate a take-over. However, the court announces the immediate closure of four sites in Mandelieu (Alpes-Maritimes), Nîme (Gard), Perpignan (Pyrénées Orientales) and Vitrolles (Bouches-du-Rhône) with 116 job cuts. The 126 employees will try to take over the company by creating a cooperative.
