Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Leoni, German manufacturer of cables for the automotive industry, changed its previous strategy and will expand the production in Leoni Slovakia Company. Since June 2013, it will create 170 new jobs there. The business expansion was triggered by several orders received from car manufacturer Volkswagen Slovakia, which is launching the production of the electric Volkswagen "e-up!" cars in Bratislava.
Traditional cable production will be replaced by production of high-tech wire harnesses with higher added value. The company management also decided to merge all three Leoni companies operating in the country (Leoni Autokabel Slowakia, Leoni Slowakia and Leoni Cable Slovakia) into Leoni Slovakia based in the town Trencín.
A previous case of business expansion for Leoni Slovakia dates back to 2004 (see Leoni Slovakia 2004).
