Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 13 May 2013, Autoneum France announced to its works council a reorganization plan with the closure of its plant in Dieppe (112 employees). The plant is specializing in manufacturing of products for soundproofing and thermal insulation for automobiles.
As announced, the company faces overcapacities linked to the decline of vehicle production in France and will relocate the production of Dieppe to its other plants in Blainville-sur-Orne, Beauvais and Toulouse. Perhaps some activities could also be relocatedĀ to Belgium or Poland. The production will stop in the beginning of 2014. Additionally, the company will also cut about 12 positionsĀ at its headquarters in Aubergenville (Yvelines). The management highlights the possibility of 20 internal replacements for the affected employees.
