Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
In April, the American tractor manufacturer AGCO Massey Ferguson announced plans to recruit 100 employees at its site in Beauvais (Oise) by the end of 2013. The site currently employs 2,200 employees and 400 temporary workers.
The company will recruit on permanent employment contracts 40 of its temporary workers and over 40 design engineer specialists. The plant produced 17,400 tractors in 2012 and is internationally oriented (85% of its production refers to exports in 140 countries). In Beauvais, AGCO has doubled its workforce in the recent ten years and today is the largest private employer in the Picardie region.
