Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
US-based pharmaceutical Eli Lily will make 225 people redundant with the closure of its site in Gießen (Hesse). As announced by a spokesperson, the closure is due to a challenging environment, overcapacities and terminating patents. The company announced talks with worker representatives.
Another 1,000 jobs will be axed in the USA, as announced in April. Eli Lily has a global workforce of 38,000 people.
