Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
German publishing house Cornelsen is to cut 200 jobs in its school book section. The job cuts, including forced redundancies, shall be realized by 2014. The restructuring refers to the school book section where 1,000 people are employed and is attributed to the lowering demand and the use of new technologies at schools. In October 2012, Cornelsen subsidiary Bibliografisches Institut had announced redundancies of 140 people (please see here).
