Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 14 March 2103, airline catering provider Gategroup announced plans to cut 1,200 jobs across its European operations. According to the company, these measures have become necessary due to a decline in demand in Europe. The Swiss-based company, which currently employs around 26,600 staff, has already reduced its workforce by 240 positions in 2012.
The announced job cuts will be implemented by the end of 2013 but till now no further information has been available on the location(s) of affected units.
