Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
UK Coal Mine Holdings has announced that it is to close the UK's largest colliery and that up to 650 employess will be made redundant. Daw Mill Colliery which is in Warwickshire began production 47 years ago and is on of the UK's last remaining coal mines. The site had underdone intensive restructuring in 2012, but a fire last month dealt a fatal blow to the continuation of mining at the site. The company announced that some workers may transfer to other sites, but the site would close.
