Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Electrolux, one of the leading producers of domestic appliances, is to cut 532 jobs at its plants located at Porcia, Susegana, Forlì and Solaro. The job-cuts - which are included in the 2013-15 reorganization plan – will add to previously announced job cuts (see here).
According to the company, the job-cuts are mainly due to a fall in demand in the European market. The trade unions will enter consultations with the company in order to find alternative measures to the job-losses. Electrolux has around 7,300 employees in Italy.
