Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
IT-consultancy firm KMD announced on 28. January 2013 that 100 employees will be made redundant due to internal restructuring. It is reported that the restructuring takes place in order to adjust the business to the current market situation.
The concerned employees were informed the same day. Subsequently, the employees' representatives and the management will negotiate the final number of redundancies and other means to mitigate the effects of the restructuring.
KMD is owned by an American hedge fund.
