Description
Daimler Trucks, a leading manufacturer of trucks and part of the German Daimler group, will cut 800 posts in Germany.
According to the German daily Handelsblatt, the company intends to save EUR 1.6 bn in costs by 2014. This also includes an additional 1,300 redundancies worldwide. The 800 job cuts in Germany will affect non-manufacturing units involved in project-based work on new models and technical innovation. There shall be no direct dismissals.
Negotiations with the works council have not started yet.
