Description
Paper company UPM has announced plans to shut down one production line at its Rauma plant, leading up to 90 redundancies. The company has started negotiations with employee representatives on the cuts. The shut-down of one of Rauma's machines should be concluded during the first half of 2013.
UPM plans to adjust to decreasing demand reduce paper capacity from its European plants. In addition to Finland (Rauma), redundancies are expected in France and Germany. News of the redundancies were followed by a one-day protest walk-out from the Rauma plant.
