Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Crystalex CZ, a Czech producer of household glass, is to create 150 new jobs by opening further manufacturing lines at Nový Bor site and increasing its production by 28% in 2013.
The new production should start in the middle of 2013. The recruitment was launched in early January and 30 new workers have already been offered a job. With the growth of volume of production the sales are increasing and they are expected to exceed 900 million this year and a billion next year. The company currently employs 540 full-time workers and about 100 agency workers.
The glass production recovery is good news for the region because the last four years the region faces a lack of jobs and high unemployment (12%). This was caused by the bankruptcy of the glassworks in 2008 and the recession that hit the automotive industry.
