Burgo, an Italian producer of coated papers, is to close its paper factory located in Mantua, with the consequent loss of 188 jobs.
According to the company, the closure is mainly due to the low profits earned from the production in Mantua. The unit is the only newsprint paper manufacturer in Italy.
The trade unions and the local authorities have requested meetings with the company in order to find alternative solutions to the closure of the historic paper factory with 111 years of presence in Mantua.
