Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Aleris, private health and geriatric care services provider, is to let go of 45 employees in Bollnäs due to a lower than expected number of patients. Aleris has 420 employees at the hospital and at the health centre in Bollnäs. Beyond reducing the staff, Aleris will also be closing down the surgery unit on weekends and reduce the number of beds.
Aleris is a subsidiary of the Aleris Group, a major health and geriatric care services provider in Sweden, Norway and Denmark with 7,000 employees.
As of January 2013 there is no information about when the reductions will start taking effect, or when they will be implemented by, although the other cost cutting measures will be implemented during the spring.
