Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 21 November, Albany Engineered Composites announced to its central works council plans to dismiss 201 employees at two French plants. 126 positions will be cut in Sélestat (Bas-Rhin) and 75 in Saint-Junien (Haute-Vienne).
The group stated that it saw a decrease of the traditional markets in Europe and North America and an increasing demand in Asia and South-America. The group plans to open a new site in Commercy (Meuse) by the end of 2013 and will give a priority to the redundant employees.
