Description

Sapa Profiler, manufacturer of extruded aluminum profiles, has announced the letting go of 105 employees to improve profitability. The job losses will be distributed on Finspång, with 70 jobs lost, and on Vetlanda, with 35 losses. The reductions come together with the closure of two of in total six aluminum profile presses, one at each site. The production has become more efficient and will be managed on the remaining four machines.

Sapa profiler announced reductions amounting to 15 employees in February 2012, but the continued serious economic situation lead to the need for further cost reductions. Earlier reductions by Sapa Profiler are covered here.

Sapa Profiler is part of one of the three core business areas within the Sapa Group, a provider of aluminium solutions. The other two are Sapa Building System and Sapa Heat Transfer. The Group is a 100% owned subsidiary of the Norwegian conglomerate Orkla.

Negotiations with the unions have already been initiated but as of November 2012 there is no information about when the reductions will be implemented by.
