Description

In November 2012, the Japanese company Orion Electric announced plans to cut 177 jobs in the unit in Ostaszewo near Toruń (Pomeranian Special Economic Zone). According to the company’s board, the redundancies are due to a lack of orders and a deteriorating TV set market.

The company cooperates with the Poviat Employment Agency, which may offer public support for redundant workers.

Orion Electric was established in 1958 in Japan. The company produces television sets and other electronic products. Orion Electric employs about 9,000 people globally. The unit in Ostaszewo was founded in 2006.
