Description
Ericsson, the telecommunications company, is to make 100 staff redundant at its factory in Athlone, County Westmeath. It is understood that the jobs at the research and development site will be cut by February 2013.
Most staff affected has been working on what the company calls "legacy" products, or older technology which is becoming less relevant. In addition, some non-software development jobs are to be lost in the support functions of administration and management and other support areas.
